Tom Carnegie began his broadcasting career in 1942 at WOWO radio in Fort Wayne, and became well-known as a basketball broadcaster and the chief track announcer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He has been a radio and television announcer for Notre Dame and Big Ten football games and Indiana state high school basketball games. He has received many awards, including the Silver Medal given by the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Carnegie founded Butler University radio station WAJC-FM. He is also in the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame and the Indiana Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.
