After 20 years as sports editor at the Bedford Times-Mail, Bob Bridge is doing other things at the newspaper -- writing human interest columns and editorials in addition to covering Indiana University sports.
While a sportswriter and editor, Bob covered Indiana in two NCAA basketball Final Fours, staffed two Maui Invitational tournaments, the 1991 PGA Championship in Indianapolis and the 1995 Notre Dame-Army football game, in addition to local coverage responsibilities. On the local scene, Bob covered three basketball state championship runs for Bedford North Lawrence High School, including Damon Bailey's decorated career.
Bob's work earned him first-place honors in writing competitions conducted by UPI, AP, Hoosier State Press Association and the Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, Bridge was honored with the IHSAA media award, the IBCA media award and the ISSA's Corky Lamm Sportswriter of the Year Award in 1998.
In 2002, he was the recipient of the Clarity in Writing Award by the American Water Works Association for a three-part series on Lake Monroe.
A graduate of Evansville North High School and Indiana University, Bridge lives in Bedford.
